Firmware Update
An update is a single operation made up of three parts, installed one after the other:

Macros, scenes, presets, plugins, network settings, timelines and the Stream Deck layout are not touched by an update. They live in their own storage area that an update never writes to.
The old rule still applies though: before updating into a running production, take a backup.
Where an update is announced
When a new version is available, it shows up in three places:
- in the status bar under System
- in the footer next to the firmware version
- in Settings, in the Update card
Running the update
- Open Settings and scroll to the Update card.
- The card reports which version is offered and how large the package is.
- Optionally click What's new — the changes since your installed version are listed.
- Press Update Now.
- The three parts install one after the other; progress is shown for each.
- The device restarts and comes back on the new version.
- Do not disconnect power and do not close the browser tab.
- Never update in the middle of a show. An update takes a few minutes, and a restart is part of it.
The computer needs internet, the FrenschPress does not
The update is fetched by the browser and passed on to the device from there. The FrenschPress itself needs no internet access — it only has to be reachable from the computer. That is deliberate: on a show network a device rarely has a route out.
The other way round: the computer running the web interface does need internet while updating.
